Ethanol Stations

Where can I buy E85 Alternative Fuel?

The ethanol production and distribution infrastructure across the nation continues to expand. As of early 2003, E85 was sold at approximately 154 stations in 22 states. The Station Locator displays public and private fueling stations. Some stations in our database have addresses that couldn't be located by the mapping application; this may result in a station appearing in the wrong map location. We recommend that you call any station you plan to visit to verify its location, hours of operation, and type of access.  The cost per gallon of ethanol is currently higher than gasoline in some areas and reportedly provides less power, yet is at a higher octane level. With the cost of gasoine on the rise, ethanol may eventually be less costly.

E85 Station Locator

The E85 Fuel Station Locator can search a database of fueling stations for the entire country to find alternative fuel stations that offer compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or propane), 85% ethanol (E85), electric, biodiesel, hydrogen, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). The results are displayed in a map with details for each station.

The National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition and the Propane Education & Research Council applaud the efforts of the alternative fuels industry in the opening of the nation’s first public Propane (LPG)/E85 Fueling facility in October, 2005. The facility provides E85 and LPG to vehicles operated by local, state, and federal officials and also to the general motoring public. The station is located at 4023 North Pan Am Expressway in San Antonio, and sells E85 from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. daily.  CleanFuel USA Chief Operating Officer and National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition Chairman Curtis Donaldson stated, “This is the first public fuel station of its kind in Bexar County, the San Antonio area and the entire State of Texas. Teaming propane with E85 at one site is a win-win.”   The new San Antonio propane and E85 station was funded in part by a grant provided by DOE, a grant provided by the NEVC, and CleanFUEL USA. Wal-Mart has thrown it's hat into the ring to resell E85 at Wal-Mart Gas locations across the nation. If things go well for them, Wal-Mart would be the largest single reseller of E85 fuel in North America.
Kroger Gas Stations in the Houston and Dallas areas are begining to offer E85 and are expected to spread to other Texas Cities in 2007.
HEB Gas Stations in the Texas Hill Country (Austin / San Antonio areas) are begining to offer E85 and are expected to spread to other Texas Cities in 2007.
